Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan
Los Angeles, California
In 2016, Studio-MLA partnered with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) to analyze urban wildlife connectivity in the second largest metropolitan region in the United States—Los Angeles, California. The main goal of the analysis was to investigate how urban systems can be used to enhance, rather than impede, connectivity for both humans and wildlife. During Phase 1 of the project, Studio-MLA reviewed and synthesized existing research on wildlife connectivity, conducted a comprehensive geographic analysis of existing conditions within the Greater Los Angeles Area, selected seven target taxa and mapped their associated species’ distributions, and identified opportunity areas for building biodiversity and increasing connectivity within the city.
