Ian Miller is driven by his passion for tying large-scale ecological processes into experiential landscapes. He sees landscape architecture as a political act, whether programming lands uses or selecting materials, and landscapes themselves as boundary-less. As a result, he focuses on the connectivity of landscapes to one another, regardless of the project. Ian joined Studio-MLA to contribute to major public projects and design for users of all ages. In his previous firm his most significant efforts included a large master plan in Baltimore with Landworks to create connections between old and new and to encourage people to occupy a new public landscape. Additionally, Ian was integral to the Charter School in Fall River, Massachusetts, adjacent to a brownfield site, with the goal to use the landscape design to invite activity without allowing access into the brownfield site. Ian is based in our Los Angeles studio.
