Megan Horn ASLA

Principal

Megan considers landscape one of the most underrated forces on the planet, and her practice begins from a single premise, that nature is infrastructure. Not a nice-to-have. Not an engineered add-on. Trained first in geography and the creative arts, she reads every site as a system in motion, with water moving, soil building, communities adapting, and ecology continuing whether anyone designed it or not. For Megan, landscape architecture is also a form of storytelling, since every grade change, planting choice, and intended user communicates something. She often starts with a single question: what would Mother Nature do here? Then she decides where design should help and where it should get out of the way.

As a Principal, Megan leads major public-realm, open-space, and resilience work, including the First Mile Horizontal Levee on the San Francisco Bay’s Hayward Shoreline, Puente Hills Regional Landfill Park and its Youth at Work Program, Compton Creek Trail, and NHM Commons. Her work also spans healthcare, education, civic, and mobility projects. She currently leads recovery and long-term planning for Eaton Canyon Natural Area following the 2025 Los Angeles fires.

Megan treats design, ecology, community priorities, operations, and funding as one interconnected challenge. She helps set project strategy, steer firm operations, shape major decisions, and develop the next generation of leaders. She also serves as President of the Association for Women in Architecture Foundation, advancing opportunities for women in design.

Megan is a certified California Naturalist, holds an MLA from Harvard Graduate School of Design and a BA in Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder.
