Vishal Jayan

Vishal Jayan is an urban designer and licensed architect whose work operates across scales, from regional master plans to finely detailed public spaces. His experience spans leading architectural projects in India to contributing to internationally-recognized urban and landscape design work. Vishal brings a sharp conceptual lens paired with a disciplined design process. His work is driven by a close reading of physical, cultural, and ecological context, allowing him to craft solutions that are both grounded and forward-looking.

Across projects in the U.S. and internationally, he has contributed to civic, cultural, and educational environments that foreground public life, resilience, and local identity. His approach prioritizes clarity of idea and long-term impact, shaping places that are as meaningful to their communities as they are responsive to their environments. At Studio-MLA, he is currently working on major cultural projects including the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and the California Indian Heritage Center, engaging complex narratives of place, identity, and public experience at an ambitious civic scale. He is based in our Los Angeles studio.
