NELA Riverfront District Placemaking Plan

NELA Riverfront District Placemaking Plan

The NELA Riverfront District Placemaking Plan created a common vision for five riverfront neighborhoods in Northeast Los Angeles. A series of community workshops harnessed local knowledge to put forth planning and project recommendations to build community, provide recreational opportunities, strengthen the economy, and protect and restore the environment through civic engagement. The plan guides future community and economic development along the eight-mile stretch of the Los Angeles River through Atwater Village, Cypress Park, Elysian Valley, Glassell Park, and Lincoln Heights. This plan was funded by a Community Challenge planning grant from four federal agencies: US Housing and Urban Development, Federal Partnership for Sustainable Communities, and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
