For Dawn Dyer, the greatest reward is seeing people embrace the outdoor spaces she helps create. Growing up on a lake surrounded by forests and learning to ride her bike through a historic botanical garden sparked a lifelong appreciation for meaningful landscapes. Those early experiences, along with an interest in woodworking and craftsmanship, continue to shape the projects that inspire her today. She is drawn to places where history, culture, and ecology come together to create memorable experiences and lasting connections to nature.

As a Principal, Dawn brings two decades of experience leading the design and implementation of complex public landscapes. Her portfolio includes the NHM Nature Gardens, the John Anson Ford Theater Renovation, and Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles. She has also led projects across higher education, botanical gardens, commercial, mixed-use, and residential environments, including multiple projects at UC Irvine, UCLA, 700 Broadway in Santa Monica, and the Irvine Towers Reinvestment. She is currently leading several higher education and public realm projects focused on campus life, sustainability, and resilience.

An advocate for habitat-enhancing design strategies, Dawn enjoys sharing knowledge about planting design, ecological systems, and landscape craft. Her collaborative approach bridges vision, design, and implementation, ensuring that ambitious ideas are carried through with thoughtful detailing, innovative solutions, and a strong commitment to design quality.

Dawn holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is a licensed landscape architect and LEED accredited professional based in Studio-MLA’s Los Angeles office.
